As you all know, my book Project: Happily Ever After is about to be published. Amazon will begin shipping copies this Wednesday (December 15th).
I want Project: Happily Ever After to do well for several reasons. If I can make Project: Happily Ever After a commercial success, it will:
- Pave the way for me to write and publish a follow up book about karma. I know. I know. It sounds all very woo-woo granola. Yet, the karma project is something I believe in. It’s something I believe others would love to read. It’s something that I think might improve the lives of others and light more than a few candles.
- Allow me to set the heater in my house a little warmer. I’ve spent a lot of money trying to promote Project: Happily Ever After and keep this blog going. As a result, the family is on a very tight budget. It seems as if every other sentence out of my kid’s mouth these days is, “Mommy, you don’t have to buy that for me. I’ll ask Santa for it instead.” It’s sweet, but it’s also a little heartbreaking, especially when she says it about a new mattress.
- Help others. I wrote Project: Happily Ever After to start an honest conversation about marriage. I want people to feel comfortable talking about the ups and downs of marriage. The more books I sell, the more people I help to feel normal and less alone.
- Allow me to reinvest in this site. There are many ways I could make this site better. I have big plans. I just need to fund them.
- Vindicate me. It must be said: a lot of people thought I could not do this. As selfish as it might sound, I would like to prove them wrong.
In order to do all of this, I need your help. Here are some ways you can help me:
1. Buy a copy before the end of the first week of January. The more copies I sell early in the process, the more attention I will get from big booksellers. Attention from booksellers means that they might stock more copies of the book or display them in such a way that would allow more people to see them. Right now, amazon is selling Project: Happily Ever After for $12.33. That’s nearly half off.
2. Buy copies to give as gifts for the holidays, for newlyweds and for people celebrating anniversaries.
3. Review the book on Amazon and for other online book selling sites.
4. Review the book on your blog or website.
5. Tell others about the book. Word of mouth advertising is the most effective advertising there is.
6. Tell your local newspaper, TV station or radio station to review the book or interview me.
7. Write about the book in Facebook, Twitter or another social networking space.
8. Tell other bloggers about the book and ask them to review it.
9. Ask your local bookstore to stock it.
10. Pick it as your next book club read. Project: Happily Ever After includes a book club reading guide. Nothing would make me happier than to know that book clubs are participating in the conversation about marriage.
11. Spread the word.
12. Tell me what you think of it. If Project: Happily Ever After helps you in any way, please let me know. I’d like to know, for sure, that I did a good thing. I wrote this book to help others. Did I accomplish that goal?
There’s still time to enter the Fabulous PHEA Giveaway! Be entered to win a Kindle, a stay at a B&B, marriage counseling, a vibrator and more with proof of purchase of Project: Happily Ever After.

Great news, I was just notified by Amazon that the PHEA books I ordered will be in on the 17th so I will have them in time for xmas. Cool!
I’m in for three more in addition to the one I already purchased. I’ll be promoting it on my blog as soon as I read it, and on my FB as soon as I get home. Stellar reviews will be written by me for sure!
Note to everyone: on Amazon, this book qualifies for FREE SUPER SAVER SHIPPING, which is 3-5 day shipping. FREE SHIPPING!!!! Can’t beat that!
Also, Amazon is only offering items for Christmas delivery for the next FOUR days. If you’re one of those last minute shoppers like me, the time to get off your rump and start/finish buying Christmas presents is NOW!
We’re all about learning the secrets to making better marriages, so we’re really looking forward to reading the book and hopefully getting a chance to talk with you about it at some point soon. Good luck and we’ll be sure to spread the word.

Voting Closes at Midnight CST December 14th. That’s tomorrow!!!! This might be another great way to promote her book!
Alisa I will do my best to order one in Jan. Money it too tight for Dec. Bad ol Santa..LOL I look forward to reading.
YOU ROCK!!!
Ron
Alisa,
I ordered-or rather–my mother ordered me a copy of your book for a late Birthday present for me (I’ll turn 27 on Dec. 23rd). So, my copy is already ordered!
I will probably order another copy next month, for my engaged friend. But, we’ll see.
I have already called my local Barnes & Noble AND Boarders and asked them if they’re stocking it. I’m bugging them like crazy! LOL!
And of course, I tell all my friends about your blog–and I’ve raved about your book–because I know it’s terrific, even though I’ve not read it yet–I have no doubt it will be remarkable!
That being said–I’ve encouraged every married person I know to pick up a copy and come read the blog–they’re a lot shyer than I am (comment wise) but they too find your blog fun and genuine! Which is great!
As the old saying goes “The best revenge is living well,” so to ANYONE who ever said you CAN’T do this, you are ALREADY proving them wrong! Your sales will prove them even more wrong and you will have the last laugh, indeed!
I’d like to enter the PHEA give away–my mom has her receipt from Amazon.com! Please just remind me of how and where to enter the contest and I’m in it!
Also, I think a book about the Karma Project would be fantastic! I’d definitely read that kind of thing, and not just because you’d be writing it.
I think telling stories of your own, along with the stories of others and how (positive) karma has changed THEIR lives–would be fascinating! There’s a lot of Christian books out there about the power of living well and being Kind–it’s time for an honest, simple non-Christian one. I can definitely see best-seller potential with that idea! Please let me know how I can help!
I am spreading the word about your book all I can–I’ll blog about it after I read it (in January). And if I ever make it back to Twitter, (kind of lost track with it), I’ll tweet about it. Facebook too–when I’m back on there in the new few days!
I wish you, and your book, nothing but the best this holiday season and ALWAYS!
Here’s to record sales and the sweet fulfillment of knowing you’ve succeeded at something you’re passionate about, and believe in!
Bravo!
All My Best & Many Blessings,
-Sarah Liz
Hi Alisa, I don’t post but read all the time. I love your blog, it’s the only one I read faithfully, every day. I ordered your book (a while ago!) and voted for Project Happily Ever After as best marriage blog. I’m so excited for your book and wish you MUCH success!!! -Michelle
I ordered my copy a while back and was recently informed by Amazon it’s arriving sooner than I was originally told. And I share your posts often on FB.
Bought your book last night!!!
I send about 100 Christmas letters. They go to people all over the country. This year the letter will include my glowing recommendation for the book and a plea that they not only buy a book for themselves but for everyone they know as well!
I went online looking for your book today and noticed that it is available in Kindle format, but not Nook format. Is there anyway to have it on the Nook as well? Pretty please?
I already received my copy of the book, I read it already–in seven hours flat! I laughed, I cried and I thoroughly enjoyed every single page. I will “officially” review it on MY blog, AND Amazon.com this weekend–but it absolutely delivered and was terrific just like I expected–even more so! You definitely didn’t give it all away on here and I loved finding out more about the story!
What a great Early Birthday Present–yay! Thanks, Alisa, for putting your life out there and your words to a page that we can all hold in our hands–you did it! Congrats!
Merry Christmas!
Many Blessings,
-Sarah Liz
P.S.
*On here meaning this blog!
Alisa – I got your book in the mail this weekend and started reading it, so far I LOVE IT!!! I really didn’t want to put it down, but life got in the way and I had to. This I do know, I’ll be buying at least 1 copy for a close friend and telling everyone I know to buy it. Excellent!
I’m still waiting for my copy to be delivered and am very much looking forward to it!
I have recommended it to a few others, so hopefully some more sales to come.
