Today I’m sending you over to my guest post at the Philadelphia MomsLikeMe site. This is one of many mom communities operated by newspapers and newspaper chains. These mom communities are an example of how print news outlets are trying to adapt to the digital age. If these sites survive, many of my beloved newspaper reporting friends just might be able to remain gainfully employed and able to continue to do the type of hard-nosed reporting that keeps the world honest.
MomsLikeMe is a product of the Gannett Co. Inc., which owns 80 newspapers including one that employed me during the early 90s.
When the Philadelphia MomsLikeMe Ambassador Lisa Picozzi got in touch to see if we could work together, I offered up the following guest post: 12 Tips for a Long and (mostly) Happy Marriage. If you live in the Philadelphia area, I encourage you to bookmark the site and check it often.
Other great parenting sites include:
Mom2Mom: My good friend, Maricar Estrella Hastings, who once worked with me at the same paper, runs this site that is associated with the Forth Worth Star Telegram. I encourage you to check it out if you live in that area.
PARENTise: Founded and run by Andrea Howard, a woman I adore in every single way, this site is the Fodor’s for parents. Here you can read and write reviews about services and products that relate to parenting. You’ll find reviews on baby sitting services, daycare centers, and more. It’s an essential resource. Bookmark it. Use it. Tell others about it.
Blogger Dad: Mommy bloggers have earned fame on the Internet for finally telling it like it is. You almost never hear about the Daddy bloggers, though, which is a shame, because some of them are damn funny, too. This site comes from David Wright, who was laid off from a newspaper about a year ago. It’s one of the funniest parenting blogs I’ve read. Start with Even More Rejected Children’s Books to get a taste of his sense of humor.
Type-A Mom: This community and advice site is owned and run by moms for moms. They are organizing a great blogging conference next month. I will be there. Will you?
