Who Won the Wii?

I thank all of you who entered the Win a Wii promotion. Initially, I decided to run the promotion as a thank you to my loyal fans and as a way to gain exposure for the blog. I ended up with an unexpected side effect: happiness. You all made me feel wonderful!

Between reading your blog posts about me and the emails you forwarded to others, I couldn’t help but feel as if the hard work I put into this blog has truly been worthwhile.

There are days when I wonder if anyone is reading. I sit in my house here, all alone except for the dog, as I write. Then, posting the entries is like screaming a sentence in the middle of a dense forest. One starts to wonder if anyone is close enough to hear.

I do have Analytics software that tells me that thousands of you come here each month. I have your comments, too. I also, from time to time, hear from you when you friend me on Facebook, send me encouraging emails, and so on. Still, I at times wonder: “Am I doing any good in this world?”

Thank you for answering that question with a strong, “Yes!” How could I not feel good after reading:

“This blog gives you a change from the hum drum of day to day activities. I have laughed out loud and even gotten motivated to become a blogger myself. Alisa Bowman (the founder) is not only an amazing author, but has a great sense of humor.”

“Awhile back I came across the blog of Alisa Bowman called Project Happily Ever After. I have been an avid reader, as her posts are VERY helpful and inspiring, yet also HILARIOUS and honest!”

“After I checked out the site, I couldn’t stop reading.  There are articles ranging from being a mother, to knowing if you’re a type A personality, to current affairs and so on.  She’s caused me to laugh nearly every day.”

“For a while now I have been reading a great website EVERYDAY. I was in search of something that could show me that life doesn’t have to be perfect. I found it! I really enjoy reading about all of the advice and funny life stories that Alisa has. She is a great listener as well. She has helped me with a few things in my life and I wanted to thank her by opening ya’lls eyes to this great website. She has advice on everything and gives it to you in a great/funny way. You will know what I am talking about when you read it. I hope ya’ll enjoy it as much as I have.”

“I do hope you’ll enjoy reading Alisa’s blog. She talks about a variety of things related to marriage and family, and in such a way that her wit provides the comic relief needed as you contemplate the state of your own marriage and shortcomings. I spent over an hour on her blog last night, laughing until I had tears in my eyes, and nodding in agreement at her suggestions. I like her style so much, I am now subscribed and am following her.”

“Alisa Bowman, shares her expert advice to finding and maintaining happiness in our married lives, since “…life after ‘I do’ isn’t always so charming.” It’s full of life and love and Alisa’s personality shines through each of her contributed pieces. I really think you’d enjoy it!”

Check Out These Blogs

I encourage you to check out these blog posts. I never once thought my name would ever be mentioned in a blog post called, “I saw God Today.” Having my name mentioned in a post about martinis and sex didn’t surprise me much, though.

Life After I Do

I Saw God Today

Martinis, Sex and Blogs, Oh My

Thank You!

Before I announce the winners, I also want to give a big thank you to all of the people who helped me pull off this contest. They are my three judges:

Samuel Greengard, one of my dearest Facebook friends, a fellow freelance writer, author Finding the Work You Love: The Essential Guide to Reinventing Your Life (Sterling 2008) and writer of a blog by the same name.  His book is an essential read for anyone who hates their job or who doesn’t currently have one thanks to our wonderful economy.

Julie Roads, a copywriter who shares her writing, blogging, social media and marketing advice at Writing Roads. If you recently lost your job and are wondering what the heck you are going to do with yourself, consider letting Julie train you to do copy writing (advertising writing). She has a great, affordable program on her site, not to mention a free e-book on the topic.

Jenna Ratzlaff is my I-can’t-live-without Virtual Assistant. She works with Social Web Diva. Not only did she help judge the contest, she also added up the points on this thing called a spreadsheet. If it weren’t for Jenna, the points would never have been added correctly-because I can’t add. Hey, we all have our strengths. Addition is not one of mine. Thankfully God invented Jenna and calculators.

I’d also like to thank Om Aroma and Esculon for donating the prizes in this contest.

Finally, my lawyer Deena Burgess wrote the contest rules for me. Deena is a small business attorney who proves wrong all of those things they say about lawyers. She’s funny. She’s cool. And she’s affordable. The person who came up with all of those lawyer jokes has apparently never met Deena.

Who Won?

I like to save the icing for last. Here are the deets:

Her Haiku:

But don’t have to be on top.
Missionary’s fine.

Third place with 90 points: Kristie Ruwe

from the relationship you have with yourself!

Note: Cari Lee placed second in the Haiku contest, but did not have enough points to win the overall. Her Haiku:
