Is Santa almost here yet?

by Alisa on December 24, 2008

Merry Christmas! Today I’m taking a break from telling you about the ups and downs of marriage, offering marriage advice, or from talking about relationships at all. For Christmas, I’ve given my entire family a reprieve from self-improvement. We will resume Friday, when I continue yesterday’s blog (Is my husband having an affair?) and let you know how I cracked Mr. Strong and Silent’s exterior and got him to finally open up and talk.

For now, however, I’m sharing my favorite holidays websites. Enjoy.

Santa on GPS

NORAD offers these real time satellite images of planet Earth, depicting Santa as his sleigh makes the rounds around the world. It’s the perfect site for those soon-to-be nonbelievers who need a little extra proof that there really is a Santa Claus. As I write this, by the way, Santa is delivering gifts in Australia. I wish I was there with him. I don’t believe they are having an ice storm there at the moment.

Twitter Santa

Yes, Santa is on Twitter. Go here and get his updates-in 140 characters or fewer-about how he and his elves are getting ready for Christmas. For instance, a recent tweet said: “We will be going nonstop for the next 32 hours. We will need a lot of support from you. Twitter is up on the giant overhead screen. Tis Fun.”

Can’t Wrap This!

How does one wrap a Teddy bear anyway? I’m just as clueless as the guy on this video. Set to the music “Can’t Touch This,” you can watch dancing elves as MC Hammer tries and fails to wrap numerous gifts. This will be my life tonight as I try to figure out how to get wrapping paper on a Transformer.

One question… who is the Transformer really for, your daughter or your husband?

(This from a father who inadvertently got his 3-yr-old son into Star Wars, at my wife’s great displeasure. He could sing the theme music before his ABC’s!)

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Oh, my husband doesn’t know a Transformer from a Bakugan. Our daughter is VERY into Transformers (even told me that McDonald’s was giving away free Optimus Primes. We don’t eat fast food–ever. But she begged to go to MDs for the free Optimus Prime….) I like them, too, except some of them are true brain teasers. She asks me to make them into a car or truck–or whatever–and I have to work at it for hours trying to figure out how they transform. Keeps me young.

Merry Christmas Alisa. Thanks for all your insight into your life. I still count Mr S&S as one lucky guy. I’ve never had that type of devotion in my life. Must be nice to be loved so much. Knowing him as I do, I can assure you he appreciates you.
