By John and Linda Friel
This was the first book I read during the year I spent fixing my marriage. At first I railed against the authors’ advice. For instance, they asked me, “What did you do to contribute to your marital problems?” Me? I’d done nothing of the sort! Our problems were 100 percent the fault of Mr. Strong and Silent. It was with the Friels’ coaxing, however, that I realized I might have contributed to our problems a teensy little bit. For instance, I was too independent, and, as a result, I hated to admit that I needed help. Therefore, my husband never offered to help me. I assumed he could read my mind. He couldn’t. I didn’t want to ask for what I wanted and needed, but, with the Friels’ help, I learned how.
